The idea for necklaces that look like tattoos came to me some years ago when I fell in love with tattoo art but have not yet decided to take that step and get inked. I've seen jewelry with tattoo motives before but I wanted to make it look as real as possible.
The tattoo art trend is growing fast and becoming more and more acceptable by society. It has a certain air of creativity, rebellion and permanency which appeals to people who have similar qualities. Yet, although many like it, not everyone is ready to take that step. Lets face it, it's painful and a big commitment.
So as a lover of jewelry and tattoos, I decided to try and merge those two. It took me about a month to find materials, design and paint it. I must have made (and ruined) around five pieces before I got one right. It was a big hit among my friends, and I frequently got asked (and still do) if it was a real tattoo every time I wear it. After couple of years of getting constantly asked if I will make a necklace like that for other people, I decided to get back to my craft desk and perfect the process of making them. And that's the story behind the BlingINK concept.
BlingINK necklaces are statement jewelry, all hand painted on transparent plastic with glass paint. Their key feature is that they're see-trough which makes them look like real tattoos. While glass paint gives a certain polished and delicate look to them.
As a designer my main goal is to combine the attitude of tattoos with femininity of jewelry.
Although I'm mainly inspired by traditional/old school sailor tattoos such as the work of Sailor Jerry, I try to offer different designs, from smaller and simpler to the bigger, unique designs. But always quirky!
So if you love tattoo art but getting inked is too expensive/painful/permanent for you, try BlingINK necklaces and make a statement.
